Sevilla, 13 de febrero de 2025
The last month, the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS) was the venue for a workshop of the founding partners of TRAIN-Europe, , a European initiative mirroring the one previously launched in the United States, aimed at promoting the development and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare.
The event, organized by the Computational Health Informatics Group, representing the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital and IBiS in this consortium, brought together prominent representatives from European hospitals and experts from Microsoft, who discussed the project's organizational, financing, and governance bases.
The workshop began with an institutional welcome from the Scientific Director of IBiS, Prof. Rafael Fernández Chacón, who highlighted the event's relevance for advancing AI in healthcare.
Throughout the day, participants explored key topics such as the validation and monitoring of AI models, the hospital workforce's digital transformation, and AI's impact on biomedical research.
Featured speakers included David Rhew, Microsoft's VP for Healthcare, and Carlo Tacchetti, from San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, among others, who addressed the impact of AI on healthcare and the opportunities for its responsible implementation. In addition, interactive sessions on innovation and use cases were held.
The event concluded with the definition of TRAIN-Europe's next steps and objectives for 2025, moving towards its positioning as a benchmark for healthcare agents in Europe in the adoption of AI.
The TRAIN-Europe Workshop marks a milestone in consolidating a collaborative network between hospitals, research centers, and technology companies to ensure the safe and efficient adoption of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
