1. Introduction
The Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBiS) has been recognised as an Accredited Centre within the “Acreditación de Centros Fundación Científica AECC 2024” (AECC 2024 Scientific Foundation Centre Accreditation programme). This recognition aims to strengthen IBIS's leadership in cancer research through the design of a joint improvement plan. This improvement plan seeks to promote scientific excellence by strengthening institutional management and the ability to attract specialised talent.
2. Objectives of the Accreditation
The main objectives of accreditation are as follows:
- To strengthen coordination and international networks in cancer research.
 - To support cancer research talent through a career plan and strategies for recruiting highly qualified personnel.
 - To increase the visibility and global impact of IBiS, boosting its competitiveness in calls for funding and technology transfer to the productive sector.

Improvement Plan in the IBiS Cancer Research Area
In order to define the general and specific objectives of this improvement plan in the area of cancer research at IBiS, a strategic process of analysis and formulation has been followed in conjunction with the Scientific Foundation. This approach has made it possible to transform the initial diagnosis into a series of specific and achievable objectives. The formulation of these objectives has been a reflective process within the cancer area and has involved dialogue and alignment with the Institute's overall vision. This ensures that the defined goals respond both to the specific needs of the area and to the overall mission of the IBiS.
This process has made it possible to develop specific and measurable objectives derived from the initial analysis of the scope and current situation of the cancer area. On this basis, an improvement plan has been designed to effectively address the challenges and needs identified. The objectives are as follows.
General and Specific Objectives of the IBIS Improvement Plan.
1. Strengthening international coordination and networks in cancer research
a. Promoting synergies between cancer research groups.
b. Promoting the creation and consolidation of international networks specialising in this
area.
2. Supporting research talent in cancer
a. Design a career plan for the stabilisation and promotion of research staff.
b. Implement strategies to attract specialised talent in cancer.
A four-year action plan with the following objectives:
Objective 1: Strengthening international coordination and networks in cancer research.
Objective 2: Supporting research talent in cancer.
Strategic Impact
The implementation of this plan will reinforce the institutional strategy of the IBiS and boost its leadership in translational cancer research. Aligning the area's objectives with the Institute's strategic goals will be the driving force behind establishing international collaborations and strengthening research networks, thereby increasing the global visibility of the IBiS.
Likewise, attracting and retaining specialised talent will foster the development of innovative projects in molecular biology and cancer treatment. This will improve competitiveness in calls for funding and consolidate a solid research structure, promoting innovation and technology transfer that bring research results closer to cancer patients
