IBiS Equality and Diversity Commission

Presentation

Each of the associated institutions that jointly ground the IBiS has their Equality Plans covering their own spheres. Hence the IBiS Equality and Diversity Commission, established in 2023. It is conceived as a basic and all-important institutional instrument and serves as a meeting point for initiatives and ideas to foster and promote real and effective changes in equal scientific-related opportunities at the centre. Additionally, it ensures that all people, regardless of their gender, cultural or social origin, are entitled to the same opportunities in order to develop their talents and contribute to the scientific research activity.

Mision and objectives

The mission of the IBiS Equality and Diversity Commission is to ensure compliance with the equality plans of the associated setting up institutions, whereas it also serves as a point of reference for all staff on any issue related to equality matters, both in the scientific and institutional realms of the IBiS.

The Commission is the instrument for ensuring that the IBiS, its decision-making and governing bodies are committed to the equality policies when taking decisions affecting their staff.

The Commission's objectives are:

  • To achieve an equal and transparent centre concerning its bodies; its responsibility and coordination positions, and in the decision-making and functioning.
  • To promote a process of continuous training in equality matters, accessible to all staff and compulsory for positions of responsibility and coordination.
  • To ensure the IBiS's policy on scientific integrity.
  • To promote the dissemination of research, playing for high stakes in research accessibility, collaboration, efficiency and transparency.
  • To advise on equality and diversity matters for the seminars programme, cycles and conferences developed at the IBiS, promoting a bias-free selection of participants.
  • To ensure real and effective equality in the centre's decisions and policies.
