Cardiovascular and Respiratory Pathology/Other Systemic Diseases

Group for the Study of Disability and Rehabilitation

Affiliated

Cód. SSPA: IBiS-DS-11

The research activity of our group focuses on processes with a high impact on disability in today's society. It focuses mainly on highly prevalent processes such as stroke or cardiovascular disease, as well as processes with lower incidence that produce severe disability such as traumatic spinal cord injury, Traumatic Brain Injury.

Lines of research

  • Rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injury (ABI), with three fundamental lines:

-Study and Treatment of Acquired Brain Injury due to Traumatic Brain Injury

-Comprehensive Rehabilitation in Stroke Patients

-Diagnosis and treatment of neurocognitive deficit in ABD

  • Comprehensive rehabilitation in patients with traumatic spinal cord injury.
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation and Secondary Prevention.
  • Children's Rehabilitation.
  • Diagnosis and instrumental evaluation of movement disorders.
  • Study and treatment of musculoskeletal pathology and interventionism.

CLINICAL TRIALS AND NEUROREHABILITATION RESEARCH PROJECTS

Within these lines of research, competitive clinical trials are currently underway, which are as follows:

  • Phase IIA, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, multicenter clinical trial to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and therapeutic efficacy of daily oral treatment with NFX88 on neuropathic pain in patients with spinal cord injury.
  • Preliminary, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled demonstrative study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of elezanumab in subjects with acute traumatic cervical spinal cord injury.
