Genomics and Sequencing

  • Sequencing (AB 3500): Applied Biosystems' 8-capillary automated sequencer enables a wide variety of applications, including in addition to SNP screening or validation, microsatellite analysis, MLPA (Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification), LOH (Loss of Heterozygosity) and AFLP (Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism).

  • Gene Expression Profiling (Affymetrix): Affymetrix's GeneChip technology allows users to study RNA expression in different organisms using a wide range of microarrays. In this way we can perform different types of analysis such as: differential gene expression (3' IVT Array, Gene Array and Exon Array), splicing variants (Gene Array and Exon Array), protein-DNA interaction (Human Promoter Array) or pre- miRNA, mature miRNA, snoRNA and scaRNA (miRNA Array), among others.

  • OncoScan FFPE (Affymetrix): This array allows the detection, from DNA of tumor samples embedded in paraffin, copy number variations (CNVs) and regions with loss of heterozygosity (LOH), as well as the detection of somatic mutations in genes of cancer.

  • Genotyping (IPLEX Gold, Sequenom): Through its high multiplex capacity, up to 40 assays per reaction and 384 samples per chip, Sequenom allows the detection of variants known as point substitutions, insertions or deletions at the DNA level.

  • Methylation (EpiTyper, Sequenom): Allows the detection and quantification of methylation sites and levels in DNA. In this way we can study up to 85% of CpG islands, discriminate between methylated and unmethylated samples, identify methylation patterns or semiquantitatively determine differences in the degree of methylation.

  • Expression analysis of known genes (Quantitative Gene Expression, Sequenom): Allows the quantification of nucleic acids using competitive PCR and the iPLEX protocol. Therefore, it allows us to validate the RNA expression results obtained by microarrays, among other possibilities.
